If you are one of the few who doesn’t know Kim Kimble by name, I guarantee you know her work. This 20-year veteran hairstylist and coif master to the stars is responsible for some of the most iconic looks by some of the biggest celebrities. From Beyoncé’s high concept hairstyles, to Shakira’s mane moments, to the late Whitney Houston’s classic tresses, to the colossal-sized Afro wig she designed for Oprah Winfrey for the cover of O Magazine, Kimble has really done it all.

But Kimble has also expanded her brand outside of the salon to include TV. She previously designed hair looks for the show Moesha and TV movie Cinderella. She now stars in the reality docuseries L.A. Hair which airs on WE tv. As far as film goes, her work could be seen previously in the movies Think Like A Man, Dreamgirls and The Score. Kimble just completed mane styles for the Ava DuVernay directed movie A Wrinkle in Time, starring Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling, which is due to hit theaters come 2018.

Now, as the creator of Kim Kimble Professional Products, sold exclusively on HSN, she’s branching out into the world of supplements.

Kimble recently launched her own signature brand of hair vitamins — Kim Kimble Biotin 5000 Strawberry Flavored Gummies. Currently, the fruit-flavored, good-hair-boosting supplements are available only at the Kimble Hair Studio in West Hollywood, California.

When Vital Updates caught up with Kim, we discussed her new product, what makes her vitamin gummies stand out, and why it was so important for her to expand her brand into the health and wellness space.

After being a huge superstar brand in hair and hair products, what made you expand into the supplement world? Why did you feel the need to create this product?

Well, I have a lot of clients that always ask questions. And I am one of those stylists who loves to create. If there’s a demand or need for it, I love to create the products that can supply it. I am also one of those people who believes that hair care starts all from within. And what you put into your body really reflects you on the outside. A lot of times, we’re not able to eat the right food that gives us the nutrients. My vitamins are here to supplement that.

So talk to us about the benefits of biotin, the key ingredient in Kim Kimble Biotin 5000 Strawberry Flavored Gummies, and why it works so well for our hair.

There’s lots of things that we can take supplement-wise, but biotin is really great for hair and overall for strengthening and growing hair, skin and nails. It’s a key nutrient that plays an important part in keeping those areas of our bodies healthy. There’s a nice amount of biotin in the product, which makes it very powerful. These particular gummies taste great and they work really well. I’ve had a lot of people [clients] who call, email, tweet and text me about their experience and hair growth [with biotin].

When people think of hair supplements that work, they may think pill or capsule form. Why did you choose a gummy style of vitamin?

I am a person who takes vitamins regularly, and I like chewable and liquid types of vitamins. Truth of the matter, it’s my preference. I do like things that taste good and these taste really great so I knew I wouldn’t have a problem. And most people are like me. It can be very hard to be disciplined about taking vitamins. But gummies are fun to take; it allows adults to kind of be kids in a way. I wanted to make them as pleasurable for people as possible. All of my clients that I’ve given them to are taking them because of how easy they are to take.

In a perfect world, what would you want to create next — product-wise, hair tool-wise, or possibly expanding your supplement line?

We want to do a whole line of hair vitamins because I feel that it would create a way for hair growth. We want to do a whole wide range of adjustable hair products because I do really feel like it starts from the inside. It really does, I’m not just saying it. It actually starts from the inside and you need to really take care of the inside so that the outside looks good. It goes hand-in-hand. What goes on the outside is very cosmetic and we make products that actually do help and repair from the outside. But I’m also interested in making products that help and repair from the inside.

Hair and hair beauty is your business. Why do you think it was a natural progression for you to move into the hair health and wellness space? Why was it so important to you?

It’s a big win-win situation and I definitely think that it’s something that was needed. My grandmother was into nutrition and she was into hair care and she was very good at both. To feel good on the inside and outside is an amazing thing and that’s my goal. For myself personally, I’ve been working on making sure that I take care of my body by eating better, taking more vitamins and supplements, and doing the same thing for my hair. You have to take care of yourself, and health is important  just as important as beauty. You can’t have one or the other. You need both in your life.
