Feeling stressed out and don’t know what to do? New research reveals a song that can reduce stress levels by 65 percent every time you listen to it.

The tune is called “Weightless” by Marconi Union. Dr. David Lewis-Hodgson of Mindlab International says in addition to reducing stress and anxiety, the song can also create a euphoric state.

Marconi Union collaborated with sound therapists so the song would have this very effect. One technique they used was to gradually lower the BPM (beats per minute) of the song, which they say will slow your heart rate.

The song is so relaxing that Lewis-Hodgson advises people not listen to it while driving because it can cause drowsiness.

In assessing the perfect song, Lewis-Hodgson had participants in a study attempt to solve difficult, stress-inducing puzzles as quickly as possible. The puzzles were done while participants simultaneously listened to a variety of songs meant to reduce anxiety.

The carefully arranged harmonies, rhythms and bass lines of “Weightless” helped to reduce blood pressure and lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol, Lewis-Hodgson said.
